A Phoenix man has been indicted on multiple counts involving child sex trafficking involving what was a missing Texas teen.
Percy Shaquel Rogers, 31, was indicted by a Maricopa County grand jury on nine counts of child sex trafficking and one count of assault in the case that involved the missing teen, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
Rogers is in custody on a $200,000 cash bond. A trial date has not yet been scheduled.
Investigators were looking for the 16-year-old who had run away from her home near Dallas in late 2024. She had been involved with social media conversations with Rogers, who investigators say traveled to New Mexico to pick her up and bring her back to Phoenix, according to a press release.
Phoenix Police received a tip in early January from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the girl, and through Texas law enforcement were told of a possible address, the release stated.
While police tried to locate the missing juvenile by investigating Rogers for possible prostitution involvement, she contacted police and was recovered. Rogers was arrested shortly after.
