Restaurateur Sam Fox is going big into the hospitality industry.

The announcement of Phoenix’s new 141-room hotel, the Global Ambassador, promises to bring those elements plus a lively atmosphere and luxurious spaces.

The hotel, designed by Mr. Fox,  has a spacious rooftop of 18,000 square feet in the Arcadia area of Phoenix and will overlook Camelback Mountain in Phoenix.

A cost for the hotel development was not released.

Mr. Fox, founder of Fox Restaurant Concepts, over the years has developed several Phoenix restaurants such as The Henry and Flower Child, Sauce, Arrogant Butcher and more that have drawn accolades from local and national foodies.

He's hoping to bring that kind of interest to the new hotel.

“The Global Ambassador is a deeply personal, legacy project for me that furthers my pursuit of combining unmatched

hospitality with culinary excellence,” Mr. Fox said in a press release.

“This is so much more than a hotel — it’s a luxury lifestyle brand that we hope will inspire and draw travelers from all over the world to explore Phoenix in a new way. The Global Ambassador is the natural evolution of my passion for creating memorable hospitality experiences.”

Mr. Fox will manage, operate and co-develop the hotel under his newly formed company called Author & Edit Hospitality, the press release said.

The expansion into the hospitality industry comes nearly two years after Mr. Fox sold his restaurant business to the Cheesecake Factory for $308 million. He remained in charge of day-to-day operations at FRC after the sale.

According to the press release, the hotel will feature a “tucked-away courtyard” for its guests and feature a “sprawling lawn accented with lush, verdant landscaping” on the property.
The hotel will include a wellness center with a spa to relax and unwind. spa.

Mr. Fox is an 11-time James Beard Award semifinalist for Restaurateur of the Year, a New York Times best-selling cookbook author and was named one of the 50 most influential people in the restaurant industry by Nation’s Restaurant News for five consecutive years.
