Motorcyclist dies following Indian School Road crash

Posted

Phoenix police detectives are investigating what led to a fatal crash on Wednesday that closed traffic along Indian School Road near 22nd Avenue.

The collision occurred about 3:45 p.m. Jan. 15 and involved a motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, and an SUV whose operator was pulling out of a private drive, police said.

Stephen Franklin, 55, who was on the motorcycle, was taken to a hospital but did not survive his injuries, according to a release. Franklin was driving east on Indian School Road when the woman driving the SUV pulled out of the driveway, striking him.

She stayed at the scene and did not show any indications of being under the influence, police said.
