Miss Arizona Preteen Ashley Nevison, a 13-year-old Phoenix resident, is spreading a message of anti-bullying and kindness through her recently published book “Gino and the Monster Bully.”

Miss Nevison, who’s grandparents live in Scottsdale, wrote and illustrated “Gino and the Monster Bully” based on her own bullying experience in her younger years, according to a press release.

In 2019, Miss Nevison became Royal International Miss Arizona Preteen 2020. She decided to develop an anti-bullying reading platform and started reading anti-bullying and kindness books to kindergarten through fourth grade students.

While reading these books, she realized she wanted to tell her own story and encourage children to stand up to bullies for themselves and their friends.

She reads her own anti-bullying book in addition to other anti-bullying and kindness books and also discusses how to write and publish books to older students.

“If even one kid is empowered to stand up for themselves or their friends against a bully, I know that all the work and energy needed to put this book together was worth it,” she said in a prepared statement.

Miss Nevison is an eighth grade student at Elite Performance Academy in Chandler and a preprofessional ballet student at The Russian Ballet Academy.

She is also the founder of Sargeant’s Army, a 501(c)3 charity that makes and donates cat toys and blankets to animal foster homes and shelters.

She wants to thank her father for helping prepare the book for publication and her mother and grandparents for the encouragement and support to write the book. Her book “Gino and the Monster Bully” is available on Amazon.
