Maricopa County to consider TikTok ban on all county-issued devices

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors will vote whether to ban TikTok on all county-issued devices at its regular meeting at 9:30 a.m. May 10.

“The (board) will consider the resolution tomorrow,” said Fields Moseley, spokesman for Maricopa County. “These discussions started in November as bipartisan legislation passed at the federal level. Some board members were concerned about the same security risks that were later put in the (Arizona) governor’s order. I expect Supervisor (Thomas) Galvin will have more to say tomorrow during the meeting.”

The Associated Press reported “most Democrats and Republicans agree that the federal government should better regulate the biggest technology companies, particularly social media platforms. But there is very little consensus on how it” should be done, the story said.
