Man dies in Guadalupe shooting involving Maricopa County sheriff deputy

A 42-year-old man died at a hospital following a shooting Friday night in Guadalupe that involved at Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

At about 9:40 p.m. May 19, deputies were sent to an area near Calle Guadalupe and the Highland Canal where there were reports of a person with a gun.

“Deputies responded and attempted to make contact with the individual resulting in a deputy-involved shooting,” MCSO officials stated in a release.

Tomas Ramirez-Martinez, 42, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to MCSO.

No deputies or bystanders were injured, officials said, and the investigation continues.
