Koll: Drivers getting worse in Valley

Posted

Since I have driven most of the Valley roads, driver infractions are becoming all too common.

I first must say from observation that “red lights, stop signs, signaling and speed limit signs” are becoming obsolete. Five to 12 miles over the limit is commonplace, especially in work zones and school zones. I feel for the children and workers. We need to step up enforcement and have stiffer penalties or more death and injury will occur.

I encountered a driver doing almost 65 mph on Bell Road last week and I said to him at a local cafe, “You like the speed of your car?” and he looks up.

“Yes, COVID-19 says I can go as fast as I want.” His table companions laughed. Example of “Driver Safety Attitude.”

We better tighten enforcement and penalties or more children and others will become fatalities. Observation is showing a dangerous trend.
