Kauzlarich: Support bond funding for Cave Creek's school district

Posted

If you have a Scottsdale address north of Jomax Road (or North of McDowell Mountain Road if you live in Rio Verde), you probably live in the Cave Creek Unified School District.

This sprawling district stretches from north Phoenix all the way to south Rio Verde, near Fort McDowell. Why is this important? Because, if you live within this footprint, you have a chance to help your school district.

Cave Creek is asking voters to approve a school bond — the first in a very long time.

The LD23 Democrats’ Executive Board has formally endorsed the Cave Creek School Bond and I want to take this opportunity to tell you why your YES vote is essential. Here are some of the compelling reasons to vote yes.

  1. Arizona has under-funded school maintenance for at least 12 years, resulting in an $18M disinvestment in CCUSD.
  2. CCUSD is the only school district in Maricopa County operating without a bond or override.
  3. If approved, all bond monies will be spent on tangible assets including safer and more energy-efficient school buses. Every school in the district will benefit from this bond.
  4. If approved, a citizen oversight committee will ensure that all monies will be spent, as planned.

Get your ballot in the mail by 10/26 or drop your ballot at the Cave Creek Unified School District Office or the Fountain Hills Unified School District Office.

Please join us in voting YES on the Cave Creek School Bond. Oh, and, thanks for being a voter!
