INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
Phoenix police interviewed the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run collision Saturday but made no arrest, authorities said.
The crash occurred shortly before 1:50 a.m. Oct. 12 near 23rd and Northern avenues. Officers arrived to find Christopher Rhinehart, 38, with injuries. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Detectives said they learned Rhinehart was seen walking and rolling around on the road when he was hit by a car. Working with Desert Horizon Real Time Operations Center, they were able to find the suspect at his home. No signs of intoxication were observed, police said.
After gathering statements from witnesses and interviewing the suspected driver, no arrest was made.
The investigation continues, and any charges will be determined after the reconstruction of the collision, police said.
