HALO (Helping Animals Live On) Animal Rescue, a Phoenix-based nonprofit that helps animals in Maricopa County find furever homes, has received a $30,000 grant from the newly named Petco Love.
Petco Love is a nonprofit leading change for pets nationally by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger and healthier, according to a release.
Since its founding in 1999 as the Petco Foundation, the organization has assisted animal rescue organizations like HALO through nearly $300 million to support adoption and other lifesaving efforts.
In addition, the foundation has helped find loving homes for more than 6.5 million pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations like HALO nationwide.
“Today, Petco Love announces an investment in HALO Animal Rescue and hundreds of other organizations as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessary euthanized,” Petco Love President Susanne Kogut said in a prepared statement. “Our local investments are only one component. This month, we will also launch the first of our national tools to empower all animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us.”
“I’m thrilled with the number of lives we have saved, but our lifesaving work is not finished,” Heather Allen, co-founder and chief executive officer of HALO Animal Rescue, said in a prepared statement. “In our first few years there were only a few volunteers, and we saved around 450 animals a year. Now thanks to our partners, donors and pet lovers everywhere, we are saving thousands!”
HALO stands for Helping Animals Live On. Since 1994, the animal rescue has served more than 78,000 shelter animals through increased adoption, sterilization and pet care education.
In addition to its shelter at 3227 E. Bell Road, Suite D151 in Phoenix, dogs and cats available for adoption at Petco stores in Avondale, Glendale and Phoenix, and PetSmart sites in Deer Valley and Phoenix. For addresses, visit halorescue.org/adoption-locations.
