Give the new commander-in-chief a chance, and protest correctly

Posted

Donald John Trump was sworn in as the 47th POTUS on Monday. Many applaud this, many do not.

What can we in the United States do? What we can do is go about our business as usual.

What we have to remember is that it was our fellow citizens who voted for this man, and while many of us didn’t, he is our leader, the commander-in-chief of our armed forces, the leader sworn to protect all of us.

What many have to remember as the late Edward R. Murrow said: “We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty.”

The Constitution allows its citizens to protest policies one doesn’t agree with. We have this option. I believe that we must exercise good judgement and protest correctly.

As my late cousin said, “Let’s give him a chance.”
