Chicanos Por La Causa brings holiday entertainment to the community with the 56th annual free Ángeles del Barrio event in Phoenix.
With help from sponsor Food City, Chicanos Por La Causa will provide free toys, games, stockings, photos with Santa, and a health fair for all. The event will go from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at South Mountain Community Center, 212 E. Alta Vista Road.
The health fair will feature free mammograms (registration required), physicals, health screenings, nutrition education, flu vaccinations, and testing from Honor Health, Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, Adelante Healthcare, and other community organizations alongside CPLC programs and services.
Entry is free and open to the public.
Chicanos Por La Causa formed in 1969 to fight discrimination against the Mexican American community. Inspired by Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez, the nonprofit advocated for equity in education, politics, and labor conditions. Today, CPLC provides services to people of all backgrounds while honoring its Mexican-American roots.
