Duet invites community to help seniors for 65-hour online giving event

Independent Newsmedia
Duet, a Valley-based nonprofit, is participating in the GIVE65 Event, a 65-hour online giving campaign scheduled July 15-17.
The goal is to raise $5,000 to ensure that Valley seniors continue to receive their groceries and rides to medical appointments, especially since COVID-19 has significantly impacted seniors, according to a press release.
The 65-hour GIVE65 Event begins at 5 a.m. CDT on Wednesday, July 15 and concludes at 10 p.m. on July 17, the release said of the event that is held every July exclusively to benefit senior-focused organizations.
Duet has the chance to receive up to $5,000 in matching funds from the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation. All donations of $10 or more to Duet given through the GIVE65 website are eligible for the match.
Community members are encouraged to pre-schedule donations July 13 – 14 at http://www.GIVE65.org/duet, according the release, noting that scheduled gifts are the first to be matched, which empowers gifts to go even further in helping seniors.
“GIVE65 allows us to help seniors in our community while raising awareness of the critical need for the programs and services that so many rely on,” said Ann Wheat, Duet executive director, in a prepared statement.
“COVID-19 has really highlighted the challenges seniors face on a daily basis. Supporting seniors and providing them the tools to define their own aging journey is always important, but particularly during a global pandemic.
We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Duet for the fifth-annual GIVE65 Event, and hope that our partnership will inspire greater charitable giving in support of seniors who rely on the very important work of the nonprofit sector,” said Lenli Corbett, executive director of the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation, in a prepared statement.
Home Instead Senior Care locations in Phoenix and Scottsdale are supporting Duet in this fundraising effort.
“We are honored to be partnering with Duet for the GIVE65 campaign,” said Kelly Cornelius, owner of a Home Instead Senior Care location in Phoenix, in a prepared statement.
“The services they provide to our vulnerable population and their caregivers are more critical today than ever before.”
