City of Phoenix plans Fourth of July closures

City of Phoenix offices will be closed Friday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

Solid Waste Collection: Curbside collection will not change during the week of Independence Day. Trash and recycling collection will happen as regularly scheduled on Independence Day.

Transfer Stations: Both the 27th Avenue and North Gateway transfer stations will be closed on Friday, July 4.

Public Works Customer Contact Center: The Customer Contact Center will be closed on Friday, July 4. It will reopen at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 7. Residents can call 602-262-6251.

Library: In observance of Independence Day, all Phoenix Public Library locations except Cholla, Harmon and Yucca Libraries will be closed. Cholla, Harmon and Yucca Libraries are offering extended full-service library hours as part of the City of Phoenix’s Heat Relief efforts and will be open on Independence Day/4th of July from noon – 10 p.m. All Phoenix Public Library book drops, and digital /eResources remain available. Parking Meters: All parking meters are enforced 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. daily, including weekends and holidays. Street Transportation regular services will resume on Monday, July 7. Parks and Recreation Facilities: City of Phoenix Community centers will be closed on Friday, July 4 for the holiday. Parks and trails will be open for regular hours, but please review “Take a Hike. Do it Right." safety guidelines before visiting a trail.

Public Transit: Both bus and light rail will operate on a Sunday service schedule Friday, July 4. There is no Express or RAPID bus service and Customer Service is closed. The following public transit centers are closed: Ed Pastor, Sunnyslope and Central Station. Check ValleyMetro.org for schedules. 

Dial-a-Ride service will be available, by reservation, between 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. To learn more about the Dial-a-Ride service, visit Phoenix.gov/dial-a-ride.   

Swimming pools: The city’s swimming pools are normally closed on Fridays during the summer, but the schedule will differ on Independence Day weekend. Pools will be open Friday, July 4, closing instead on Thursday, July 3, according to what Parks Department officials told a city council subcommittee in May.
