Candidates backed by mayor lead Phoenix council races

Council candidates supported by Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego have significant leads in the latest unofficial runoff election results.

Kevin Robinson, a former Phoenix Police Department official, leads Sam Stone in District 6.

Unofficial results showed Robinson with 62.39% of the vote to  37.61% for Stone, a former aide to Councilmember Sal DiCiccio, who was term limited from seeking another term.

In District 8, Kesha Hodge Washingtion, an attorney, is leading incumbent Carlos Garcia, 56.18% to 43.82 %.

Official results will be canvassed March 22. Terms for winning council members begin April 17.
