I am writing to express my strong opposition to SB 1272 and to advocate for fair and sensible regulations for vapor products. This bill imposes excessive oversight that could harm businesses and limit consumer choice.
Firstly, vapor products should not be regulated in the same manner as alcohol. SB 1272 creates unnecessary barriers for both businesses and consumers. Additionally, the proposed public directory would give unfair advantages to select companies while restricting small retailers and limiting consumer choices.
Moreover, the excessive penalties and compliance costs outlined in the bill would likely push small vape shops out of business, forcing consumers to seek unregulated alternatives. This is not a solution that benefits anyone.
I urge lawmakers to vote no on SB 1272 and instead focus on policies that support adult nicotine consumers and ensure responsible access to better alternatives.
