Art Detour celebration lasts 33 days, adds new destinations

Extended length to recognize annual event's longevity

Artlink, a nonprofit organization that has a mission of connecting artists, businesses and the community, recently announced programming highlights for Art Detour 33.

The annual arts and culture celebration will happen Feb. 27-March 31, according to a press release detailing in-person as well as virtual events.

Historically a weekend event and recently “Phoenix Art Week,” this year’s Art Detour has expanded its run to 33 days to honor the event’s 33rd anniversary and accommodate public health concerns, the release said of expanding the geography of the traditionally central Phoenix events.

The event will feature more than 300 arts activities and “Articipants,” defined as arts venues, arts and culture organizations, arts-supporting businesses from across the Valley, and visual and performing artists from the entire state, according to the release.

“The arts and culture community coming together to help develop a different, more impactful Art Detour is incredibly adaptive and industrious of these Articipants,” said Catrina Kahler, Artlink president and CEO, in a prepared statement.

“Our goal as an organization is for the collective of engaged artists and businesses to have these 33 days to stand out from any of the last 33 days in the previous 12 months.”
