There were no secrets entering the 5A final between Peoria district rivals, or among anyone who had watched both teams. Friday night, steady Sunrise Mountain wore out sometimes spectacular Ironwood. The top-seeded Mustangs ran 49 times for 425 yards to beat #6 Ironwood (7-3) 42-20. more

At the time, Ironwood's 20-11 win  against then-undefeated Sunrise Mountain Oct.  30 seemed like the biggest upset of the season. Now with these district rivals preparing for a rematch in the 5A state title game, the Eagles win feels like less of a shock.
