Woman killed, husband in hospital after stabbing in Peoria

A woman is dead following a stabbing at a home in Peoria, police said.
The incident happened around 6:15 a.m. Saturday, July 4 near 89th Avenue and Greenway Road.
Peoria police said a witness from the incident location ran to a neighbor’s house for help. They indicated that a man and woman lived at the incident location and that the man stabbed the woman.
Responding officers located a 65-year-old woman in her home with several stab wounds, police said. She was transported to a hospital where she died from her injuries.
Officers also located the suspect, described as a 63-year-old man, at the scene with several cutting injuries. He was taken to the hospital and remained there as of Saturday afternoon.
"We are continuing our investigation and will speak with those involved once they are able," Peoria police stated in a release. "We believe this to be an isolated domestic violence incident between a husband and wife. There are no outstanding suspects. Detectives are investigating this incident to determine what exactly occurred, further information will be provided as available."
