Singer/songwriter Rob DeFriese performs 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at Winery 101, 9299 W. Olive Ave., Suite 101.

Mr. DeFriese writes and performs original music around the Valley both as a solo act and as part of a three-piece, alternative rock band called Ant Farm.

“With my music I hope to connect to as many people as I can through the challenges we all face,” he states on his website robdefriese.com. “I want to help people to know they’re not alone, that we’re all in this together.”

Born into a musical family in Phoenix, Mr. DeFriese began performing before the age of 4 and was writing songs at 15. Trained formally as a vocalist, he also is a bassist and guitarist, and has been performing on those instruments for more than 30 years.

In 1989, he joined the Phoenix-based Ant Farm, which produced four EPs and albums with many songs by Mr. DeFriese. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 2003, he helped form the Atlanta Unity Musician’s Guild, which he eventually led until 2013. The Guild performed numerous inspirational originals by Mr. DeFriese. He was also a vocalist (both lead and backup) and bassist with The Mixx, a variety rock, pop and alternative cover band, and with The Mystery Trip, a Beatles’ music tribute band, appearing at more than 100 venues.

He is now devoting himself to songwriting and performing, and is currently recording a demo album with a Tempe-based producer.
