West Valley teacher earns CTE Hall of Fame nod

A teacher who taught more than 30 years with Peoria Unified School District and with Deer Valley Unified School District is the newest inductee into the Association for Career and Technical Education’s (ACTE) Region V Hall of Fame.
Kevin English taught at Peoria High School, 11200 N. 83rd Ave., for agriculture and building trades, then Raymond Kellis High School, 8990 W. Orangewood Ave., Glendale, for engineering, and Centennial High School, 14388 N. 79th Ave., Peoria, for engineering as well.
ACTE announced that Mr. English of the National Academy Foundation is recognized for his contributions and accomplishments with the work and purposes of Region V. The Hall of Fame honors the leadership of CTE professionals who have made enduring contributions to CTE throughout their career.
“It was an honor to be selected for inclusion in the Region V Hall of Fame,” Mr. English said. “It is a humbling experience to be recognized for doing what I thoroughly enjoy. Thank you to the committee and to Region V. I am truly honored.”
Candidates are judged on their impact of contributions on student achievement, curriculum, community, Career and Technical Education programs; significant contributions at the Region V, national, and state level; and contributions or prominence achieved above and beyond job assignments.
As a Region V Vice President, Mr. English was responsible for bringing the Fellows Program from Arizona to Region V. He then was a principal architect in the Fellows Program being adopted and instituted at the national level.
He currently works with DVUSD’s DECA and entrepreneurship students.
