Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot is coming to Peoria Sports Complex.
Posted
Work up an appetite before your big holiday meal at the annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot in Peoria.
The Arizona Road Racers are hosting this year’s event 7:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 28.
All races begin and end at the Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 N. 83rd Ave.
This event features three distances: 10 mile, 5K, and a 1 mile fun run.
For the safety of participants and course workers, there is a 10 a.m. cutoff. This equals a 15 minute/mile pace. Race registration ends at 7:15 a.m. on race day for the 10 mile race and 8 a.m. for the 5K and 1 mile. Registration ranges from $5 to $50 dependent on the race and age group.
Proceeds from the race support the Peoria Diamond Club, providing grants to many local charities including Special Olympics Arizona. The top three finishers in every age group for every race wins pies.
Finisher medals are awarded in each race.
Any pies remaining after 10 a.m. will be given away to participants that stay through the entire awards ceremony.
