City of Peoria Streets Division and its contractor have begun concrete repairs on 83rd Avenue, between Skunk Creek Wash and Bell Road.
The work includes upgrades to Americans with Disabilities Act ramps, valley gutters, sidewalk repair/replacement, as needed, in advance of a mill and overlay project expected to take place later this year.
This work will take place in two phases. The first phase of work, 83rd Avenue, between Skunk Creek Wash and Paradise Lane, will take place during daytime hours for 3-4 weeks. The second phase of work will follow on 83rd Avenue, between Paradise Lane and Bell Road and will take place during night hours in late May or early June for about one week.
During both phases, there will be temporary lane restrictions throughout the project area. At least one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction on 83rd Avenue. To accommodate valley gutter reconstruction, there may be short term road closures (3-4 days) at the valley gutter location to allow the concrete to properly cure, and detour signs will be in place to direct travelers around the closures, if necessary. Following the concrete repairs, crews will be on site to patch back the asphalt immediately adjacent to the newly installed concrete.
Additional project details are being provided to apartment complexes and businesses along this corridor. The concrete repair portion of this project is expected to be completed in early to mid-June, weather permitting.
