Get a behind-the-scenes look at the field of law enforcement through Peoria Police’s annual Police Citizen's Academy.
Hear from different divisions to get a new perspective on law enforcement. This 10-week course runs Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Feb. 19-April 30. There is no class March 19.
Participants must be 18 years or older, live or work in Peoria, and can not have attended in the past.
The academy covers a range of topics: animal control, aviation unit, victim's assistance, use of force, firearms safety, defensive tactics, active threat response, traffic investigations, 911 dispatch/communications, Eyes & Ears Program, DUI, K9 Unit, SWAT, crisis negotiation, criminal investigations and the community relations unit.
