National Parks and Recreation Month is here and this July, the city of Peoria is celebrating parks, trails, and open spaces with the national theme: Our Park and Recreation Story.
Peoria is home to 31 neighborhood parks and three large community parks that offer a variety of amenities such as fishing lakes, dog parks, multi-purpose fields, playgrounds, and public art.
Additionally, Peoria has four mountains, trails and scenic multi-use pathways as well as river trails that traverse the city. These amenities are an important part of the community, and in celebration of Parks and Recreation Month -- an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association -- we invite residents to share their experiences, memories, and stories about what parks and recreation mean to them.
