Second Saturday highlights local talent, gourmet food

New Peoria restaurant joins November lineup

Second Saturdays returns to Old Town Peoria Saturday, Nov. 9, with a different lineup of local artists and more gourmet food offerings at three pop-up restaurants.

“Our first Second Saturday event in October was so much fun,” Peoria Arts and Events Manager Marylou Stephens stated. “We had such a great variety of music, art and food for residents to enjoy. I’m excited to see this event continue to grow and provide a regular place for local talent to showcase their artistic skills.”

Second Saturdays is free and occurs every second Saturday of the month through May. It takes place 4:30-8:30 p.m. on Washington Street and 83rd Avenue in the heart of Old Town Peoria, between Osuna Park, the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts (PCPA), Driftwood Coffee and Lucidi Distilling Co.

Second Saturdays features pop-up restaurants complete with vintage dishware, linens and centerpieces. For $30, attendees can pick one of a variety three themed dining experiences with a gourmet menu cooked by a professional chef: “The Road to Salivation” by Chef Michael Irmarosa, “Soul Cooking with G’mamas,” or “A Mayan Thanksgiving” by Mochilero Kitchen, which is a new restaurant opening in Peoria in the spring.

There will be the pop-up restaurants, live musical performances, outdoor games, interactive art, photo booths, and food trucks. Musical artists performing at the event will include AJ Odneal, Nathaniel Walberer, John Caufield, Michelangelo Caggiano, Estevan Corales, Josh Caballes and Aaron Lopez.
