Rockabilly Bash blends classic rides, live music

Pleasant Harbor to host 9th annual party next month

Posted

One of the West Valley’s biggest parties is coming back to Lake Pleasant next month.

The 9th Annual AZ Rockabilly Bash takes place Friday, Oct. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 24 at Pleasant Harbor’s RV Resort, 8708 W. Harbor Blvd., Peoria.

The event is a combination of classic cars (pre-1972 only) and bike show, a tattoo contest, vendors, like rockabilly music, and a pin-up pageant, all set against the backdrop of Lake Pleasant.

The weekend’s live music will include Tiki Bandits on Friday night, and a Saturday slate of  The Joeys, The Devillains, The Rocketz, Sandbox Bullies, and Johnny Hootrock.

Those looking to register pre-’72 cars, motorcycles and mini bikes and want also to tent camp on site all weekend can purchase a camping permit at the registration desk for $25, which will allow the car/bike owner to tent next to their show vehicle. The registration fee will be $25 at the gate plus the $25 camping permit. These are not reservable, and are first come first serve.

They are only sold at the registration desk by the AZ Rockabilly Bash staff at the car show entrance.

Vintage trailers entering the show will be able to enter for $25 registration, plus the $25 camping permit which can be purchased at the registration desk and covers Friday through Sunday, and will be for the area designated for tent camping in the show. Personal vehicles will have to be parked away from the show in a designated area.

These spots are also first come first serve, dry spots with no hook-ups and are only available at the registration desk by the AZ Rockabilly Bash staff at the car show entrance.

Spectators who want to tent camp with their personal vehicle can purchase a camping permit from the general admission entrance for $25, plus the $15 general admission. No personal vehicles will be allowed in the show fenced in area, so guests would have to carry a tent and all gear into the show and park their personal car in the general admission parking, which is outside the event area fencing.

The general admission and the camping permit is for Friday through Sunday, and guests can re enter as many times as they like with a wristband. Showers and bathrooms are available at the main club house of the resort.

Guests who would like to tent camp next to their personal vehicle can purchase a camping permit from the marina office instead and pitch a tent next to their car in the area next to the event. Those guests would have to purchase a general admission ticket to the bash, but can re-enter and leave with the wristbands for Friday through Sunday.

This option works well for those who have a personal vehicle and want to camp in proximity to the event but are not entering a car/bike into the show.
