Pools re-open; open swim may still return
Posted
Sunrise Pool, 21321 N. 86th Drive, and Peoria Pool, 11200 N. 83rd Ave., opened to the public on June 22 for swim lessons, water aerobics and lap swim with modifications that comply with CDC guidelines/social distancing protocols.
Registration for swim lessons at Peoria and Sunrise pools began June 17. Centennial pool will remain closed at this time.
The pool openings are part of a three-phased plan for gradually reopening city buildings, facilities and programs to the public during the coronavirus pandemic.
This plan follows federal and state guidance for reopening, including hygiene, sanitation and physical distancing protocols. As the plan rolls out, COVID-19 trends and data will be evaluated to determine long-term implementations and programming.
Open swim may return at a future date later this summer.
