Peoria's WeRIDE pilot program extended

Posted

WeRIDE microtransit in Peoria has extended its pilot period through Feb. 14.

WeRIDE offers trips to and from fixed points within a 10-minute walk to many central Peoria neighborhoods with stops at shopping centers, recreation facilities, businesses, and community spaces.

Most neighborhood stops can be found at a community neighborhood mailbox or a very short walk from your home. Currently, the WeRIDE program is being tested in a limited area of Peoria before potential future expansion.

Service is Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

WeRide vehicles are ADA-friendly and seat four to eight passengers. Bike racks are available on all vehicles. Children 4 years and younger must use a child safety seat. Children ages 5-7 or children who are less than 57 inches tall must use a booster seat.

Adult fare is $2 per ride. Seniors over 60, veterans, disabled persons and students pay $1 per ride. Children 5-years-old and under ride free with a fare-paying passenger 16-years-old or older. Fares can be paid using the app with a credit/debit card or paid to the driver with exact cash, as drivers are not able to make change.

Visit werideaz.com or call 623-777-4330 for more information on the Peoria service zone. The WeRIDE app is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
