Peoria wastewater plant to get repairs

Posted

A water facility in Peoria will be getting some repairs.

The Peoria City Council approved an agreement with Ovivo USA, LLC for a price not to exceed $150,000 to purchase fine screen repair parts for the Butler Wastewater Reclamation Facility.

The facility has the capacity to treat 10 million gallons of wastewater per day, which is 60% of the total treatment capacity for all of Peoria.

Originally built in 2007, this water facility has performed very well over the years, but some components are beginning to show wear and the water services department needs to either replace or substantially rebuild fine screen parts, according to city documents.

Without proper screening, debris will accumulate, causing wear on equipment.

The fine screens at the headworks of the plant are in this category and two of the three “Brackett Green fine screens” need to be repaired. The required parts typically take 14 weeks to arrive after ordering. The purchase price will include parts to repair the two screens and additional parts for future maintenance.

The “Brackett Green fine screens” are a proprietary system and repairs require the use of parts manufactured by Brackett Green.

Ovivo USA is the sole distributor of the Brackett Green parts necessary to repair the two screens and provide the desired spare parts. Alternate sources are not currently available. Replacement of the fine screens with an alternate product would incur considerably higher costs due to the configuration of the plant and the incorporation of the screens into the concrete headworks.
