Peoria Unified welcomes new director of federal programs

Posted

The Peoria Unified Governing Board recently approved Rachelle Morris to serve as the new director of federal programs. In her role, which will began Oct. 11, Morris will oversee federal grants and programs.

Morris will join Peoria Unified from a company called Graduation Solutions where she served as an executive director of education and an executive director of compliance. In these roles, she was responsible for managing state and federal audits related to student funding, operational frameworks and academic performance.

Prior to her employment at Graduation Solutions, Morris worked at Student Choice High School where she served as both deputy superintendent and vice president of operations from 2018 to 2022. Morris also served as a school principal in the Litchfield Elementary School District from 2011 to 2018. During her tenure there, she increased the school accountability rating to an “A” and maintained that rating during her tenure, according to a news release.

In 2016, her school was awarded the A+ School of Excellence Distinction and in 2018, her school ranked 12th highest in the state for all K-8 elementary schools, the release said. Prior to her work in Litchfield, Morris also served as an assistant principal in both the Madison and Creighton elementary school districts from 2005 to 2011.
