Peoria Unified schools to present these 9/11 campus tributes

In honor of the 22nd anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, the following Peoria Unified schools will host commemorative events:
Desert Harbor Elementary School, 15585 N. 91st Ave., Peoria
The campus will host its annual Walk of Honor at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11. Staff and students will honor those who serve the community and country by lining hallways and paying tribute to military, veterans and first responders in attendance.
Frontier Elementary School, 21258 N. 81st Ave., Peoria
The campus will host the 22nd annual Heroes Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11 for firefighters, police officers, first responders and soldiers.
Lake Pleasant Elementary School, 31501 N. Westland Road, Peoria
The school will host an assembly at 8:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11 and invites families of junior high students to attend. Former teacher Jody Beltram will share the history of the country’s military flags.
Peoria High School, 11200 N. 83rd Ave., Peoria
Students in Future Farmers of America will host a breakfast for first responders from 6:15 to 7:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11 in the agriculture department in conjunction with their culinary arts students. The breakfast will be farm-to-table, using eggs from chickens cared for by the FFA students on campus. There will also be a remembrance ceremony at the flagpole at 7:30 a.m. by Air Force Junior ROTC students.
