Peoria Unified hosts parent information sessions for virtual instruction model

Posted

In the coming year, Peoria Unified School District will be offering two options to parents due to the COVID-19 pandemic -- either in-person instruction or full-time virtual instruction for those who do not want their children attending school due to the pandemic.

PUSD is now hosting parent information sessions for the full-time virtual instruction model. This is for parents interested in having their children taught virtually as opposed to in-person for the coming school year.

There are two sessions. The elementary school information session was 5 p.m. July 14, but can be played back at www.peoriaunified.org.

The high school virtual instruction parent information session will be live 8:30 a.m. July 15. Visit the district’s website to view the session live or for playback later.

The full-time virtual instruction will be conducted through the district’s eCampus Virtual School, using the nationally recognized Florida Virtual platform.

A recent executive order from Gov. Doug Ducey declared the first day of physical schooling would be moved back to at least Aug. 17.

PUSD will begin the school year Aug. 5 with virtual instruction, which is consistent with the current school calendar, and then begin the physical first day of classes Aug. 17.
