Peoria Unified earns financial reporting honor

Posted

Peoria Unified School District recently received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting award, granted by the Association of School Business Officials International.

The district earned the certificate of excellence for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.

To receive the award, Peoria Unified demonstrated specific guidelines for effective, financial reporting recognized by school business officials. This award reflects the district’s commitment to transparency and high-quality financial reporting.

For more than half a century, ASBO International’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting has been the gold standard for promoting and recognizing excellence in financial transparency.

Submitted annual comprehensive financial reports are rigorously reviewed by a panel of experienced financial professionals, who provide constructive feedback to further enhance the quality of future reports. Districts that meet the program’s stringent requirements are awarded the certificate of excellence, a distinction that also supports bond ratings and continuing bond disclosure processes.

Peoria Unified has received the COE award from ASBO for more than 30 consecutive years. The district publishes its budget on the district’s website with financial reports going back more than 10 years for the public to view.
