The PUSD governing board has added an action item its next meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13.
The board will consider action to appoint a hearing officer on behalf of an employee grievance. Chief personnel officer Carter Davidson will present the subject matter.
An employee grievance was filed at Level 3 per the district’s policies and regulations. Level 3 grievances may be heard by the governing board or a hearing officer may also be assigned by the board. This agenda item allows the board to name hearing officers for human resources to contact and to set up to provide additional support to the board.
Also at the meeting, the board will hear updates related to closures and continuity of district business related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The board will also convene an executive session for discussion or consideration of employment assignment with a teacher from Peoria Flex Academy, 11200 N. 83rd Ave., and discussion or consultation with the district’s attorney for legal advice regarding communications related to personnel matters.
Closed-door meetings, known as executive sessions, are private to everyone except the public body hosting the meeting, legal officials and any invited individuals.
The employee must be properly noticed not less than 24 hours prior to the discussion, and has the right to call for discussion to occur in open session. If this request is made, this agenda item will become part of regular session.
As previously noted on the preliminary draft agenda, the board on Thursday night will also hear informational reports on budget, facilities and construction; the monthly district budget update; upcoming meetins and events; and legislative updates.
Community members may submit comments to be read aloud during the public comments portion of the meeting. The time limit for public comment is 3 minutes, both in person and virtually, and state statute prohibits the board from discussing an item not listed on the agenda. However, individual board members may respond to criticism, ask staff to review a matter, or ask a matter be put on a future meeting agenda.
