Peoria will honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King with a community event at Peoria City Hall Centennial Park Saturday, Jan. 18.
The event, organized by Peoria's Arts and Culture Department in partnership with Vibrant Communities, will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the back lawn located at 8401 W. Monroe Street.
Attendees can look forward to live arts and cultural entertainment. Jacki Morales from Mega 104.3 will host the event, featuring performances by a children's choir from the Peoria Unified School District, singer Lisa Hightower, and the headlining group The Kings of Soul Band. Guests will also experience African drumming demonstrations by Lydia Woods of Drum Arizona and see a live mural painting by local artist Cinque Smith.
To add to the festivities, food trucks on site will provide complimentary small bites. For those looking for a full meal, full plate options will also be available for purchase between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
