Peoria Sports Complex adds Happy Hour Fridays for spring training

Peoria Sports Complex is welcoming spring training 2020 with a new happy hour before Friday night games, among other new promotions.

There will be a night game at the complex, with a 6:40 p.m. start, on all four Fridays during the spring season. The stadium will be open early at 4:30 p.m. every Friday for the new Happy Hour that includes drink specials ahead of game time.

“The Peoria Sports Complex is the place to be on Fridays during spring training with every Friday slated for a 6:40 p.m. night game,” stated Mike Hyland, Peoria Sports Complex superintendent in a news release. “Start your weekend off right with a game and happy hour. Gates open early at 4:30 p.m. and, from 4:30-6 p.m., enjoy drink specials including $5 draft beers and entertainment at the left field Four Peaks Pavilion.”

The ballpark will have one fewer night game than it did in 2019, decreasing from nine to eight. Four of those night games are on Fridays. The other 23 games, including all weekend games, will be day games.

Peoria ranked third in the West Valley in attendance, behind Camelback Ranch and the Brewers’ Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix, and seventh overall in the Cactus League, drawing 6,674 fans per game last year.

There will also be new menu items at the concessions this year.

“We are thrilled to offer exciting new menu items for our fans this season,” Mr. Hyland stated. “We are bringing a street taco cart to the stadium, adding a spicy twist to our Ruthian Foot-Long hot dog wrapped with jalapeno bacon and introducing the Mac Attack hot dog, family-sized Nacho and French Fry Helmets with your choice of a Padres or Mariners helmet to take home as a souvenir. Another souvenir concept for 2020 is a 32-ounce cup, good for $2 soda fountain refills all season long after the initial cup purchase.”

Special event days at the ballpark returning this year, back by popular demand, are Dog Days, Kids Days, Little League Day, Education Night and Book it to the Ballpark. The first game of spring, Saturday, Feb. 22 between the complexes two host teams, the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres, is the annual charity game, an event that celebrates the fundraising success for various local charities through the Peoria Diamond Club.

“Spring is here and it’s time to get excited about baseball,” stated Mayor Cathy Carlat in a news release. “No matter how you like to enjoy America’s pastime, stretched out on the lawn, sitting in a shady seat, or with a group of family and friends surrounded by specialty foods and craft beer, the Peoria Sports Complex has it all.”

On select dates, Peoria residents can purchase up to four tickets at 25% off and receive a free parking pass. Visit peoriasportscomplex.com/spring-training/resident-rewards.
