Peoria residents to open three OHM Fitness locations in Valley

Longtime friends, executives secure licenses to bring EMS Fitness to Valley

OHM Fitness announced it will soon arrive in the Valley as three new franchise licenses have been secured for the area.

Peoria residents Casey and April Meyeres as well as Christopher and Candice Johnson will open three OHM Fitness locations in the Peoria, Glendale and North Phoenix areas, with the first location planned to open in 2023.

They are actively searching for ideal retail locations with the right tenant mix and between 1,800 and 2,000 square feet.

OHM Fitness offers a high-tech, wireless EMS fitness experience that packs the benefits of an intense two-hour workout into a low-impact, 25-minute session -- essentially giving members better results with less time in the gym, according to a news release. The concept was created in Arizona and has 10 franchise licenses in development across the U.S.

Casey has 25 years of experience in public accounting and owning firms and Chris has a 21-year background in operational innovation and optimization in the commercial real estate facilities services industry. The lifelong family friends have always talked about going into business together in some way.

April brings her passion for nutrition, fitness, and wellness along with 20 years in the education field and Candice, also a fitness enthusiast, brings more than 17 years of financial institution and customer relations experience. Both April and Candice will manage the franchise and retail operations of the studios.

Casey was the first to come across OHM Fitness and was intrigued by the new concept after reading an article about its launch and realizing the strength and experience of the founding team.

“I was instantly addicted to the OHM Fitness experience,” Casey said. "The low impact yet intense style of this workout attracted me immediately and I knew that this was an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of something that was going to be huge. My family and I are avid OHMies now, driving 30 minutes to Scottsdale from Peoria to workout three times a week, and we are each seeing amazing results.”

Casey was so fascinated by this efficient fitness concept that he found himself telling his friend Chris about OHM Fitness. A few days later, Chris and Candace took an OHM Fitness class and had the same immediate reaction as Casey - they wanted in.

“After that first class, I began to research the science behind EMS style workouts,” Chris said. “This is when I knew it was more than just another workout. While there are other EMS workouts available, the wireless component of the suit is the difference, and the experience in a small group class with the vibe that OHM Fitness has created is unlike anything out there.”

One of Meyeres’ teenage sons, Cason has experienced amazing results with OHM Fitness. the release said.

He lost 40 pounds as a side effect from COVID-19 and in just three months at OHM Fitness, Cason was able to gain 20 pounds back in muscle. OHM Fitness has the ability to positively impact people of all fitness levels and with a variety of goals due to the scalability of the low impact workouts and the customization of the electronic pulses of the EMPower Bodysuit.

OHM Fitness was created by several veteran franchisors who built and grew Massage Envy, European Wax Center, and Orangetheory Fitness.

“We are hearing these types of stories from our members every week,” said OHM Fitness Founder Doug Payne. “This is so much more than the latest fitness trend. The positive impact we’ve had and the impressive results that we’ve delivered to our members in the short time we have been open is the most rewarding part. We’re changing the way people workou.”
