Peoria resident inducted into Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame

Peoria Independent Hometown Hero recognized for his service

Peoria resident Tad Snidecor was inducted into the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame, Class of 2024, on Nov. 1.

He was one of 15 Arizona veterans inducted for outstanding civic contributions beyond their military service.

The induction ceremony was at Talking Stick Resort Conference Center, hosted by Mark Curtis, longtime anchor for 12 News.

Snidecor entered the U.S. Marine Corps in September 1988, served 20 years and retired as a first sergeant.

Since then, he has been heavily involved in giving back to his fellow veterans, both in Peoria as well as across the Valley and state.

After he retired as a Marine, he helped launch the pilot of the Marine Corp DSTRESS Line, a 24 hour 7 days a week, anonymous phone service that provides support and resources for Marines, veterans and their families. It continues to provide crisis intervention and help with suicidal thoughts, stabilization of situations, Referrals for treatment, as well as counseling and prevention.

Snidecor volunteers for the Veterans Administration in Behavioral Health Operations at the West Valley Vet Center and serves as a member of Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s Veteran Advisory Council. He is also the chairman of the Peoria Veterans Board, which advises the Mayor on matters concerning military veterans.

Last year, Snidecor was awarded the Peoria Independent Hometown Hero in the Veteran category for his service not only to his country but for his service to the Peoria community after his Marine service.

Snidecor enjoys hiking, camping and spending time with his family.

United Arizona Veterans manages and operates the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame, founded in 2001 to recognize the civic contributions of Arizona veterans.

United Arizona Veterans was established in December of 1981 by the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans the Veterans of Foreign Wars to collectively promote veteran-related affairs endorsed by a majority of its member veterans service organizations.
