Peoria Planning and Zoning Commission elects new officers

Posted

The Peoria Planning and Zoning Commission elected new officers for the 2023 calendar year, Jan. 19.

The commissioners voted for Tony Feiter to be chair, Jeff Nelson to be vice chair and Joysaphine Waitman to be secretary. They will begin in their newly elected positions at the next public meeting.

Peoria’s Planning and Zoning Commission consists of seven members and is responsible for recommending planning and zoning policies governing land use in Peoria. The commission also reviews and recommends approval of zoning codes and annual revisions to the city’s comprehensive master plan.

The mission of the Planning and Community Development Department is to work with the community to shape Peoria’s future, from neighborhoods to commercial centers and beyond. It’s purpose is to provide advice and assistance on land use, development review and zoning issues to those who make decisions on such issues in Peoria in order to enhance the quality of life for present and the future residents, according to the city’s website.

Planning and zoning meetings air live and are rebroadcast daily following the council meetings at 7 p.m.

Meetings can be watched on local cable provider Cox Cable Channel 11, streamed online or on Peoria’s YouTube site, Digital Peoria.
