The Peoria Center for the Performing Arts has gone over-budget due to rising operating costs, according to a city report.
The Peoria City Council approved a budget transfer for $15,500 from the General Fund Contingency account to the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts for utility expense overages.
Operating expenses at the PCPA are trending to exceed the base budget allocation, the report stated.
The factors that are contributing to these overages are utility rate increases and increased facility usage. Additionally, Telecom/Internet service was upgraded to a reliable Cox business account to correct significant downtime in phone and Internet connections for the box office and other administrative functions, according to documents.
The city has an operating lease with tenant Theater Works, under which Peoria is responsible for all utility expenses at the PCPA. The overages are: $5,000 for water, $2,500 for sewage, $2,000 for refuse, and $6,000 for telecom.
