The Peoria Police Officers Association’s annual Shop With A Cop event starts 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 when children arrive at the Peoria Community Center, 8335 W. Jefferson St.

This event is organized and brought together by the fundraising efforts of the Peoria Police Officers Association along with support of several community partners and the Peoria Police Department. It allows police department employees to take kids from the community to a local department store to purchase gifts of all kinds for themselves and their families for the holiday season.

Children get paired with police department employees and the event is kicked off with Santa’s arrival and raffles. Kids and officers will leave for Chick-Fil-A, 16657 N. 83rd Ave.,where they will have breakfast and visit with Santa.

Then the officers caravan the kids in police vehicles (with full lights and sirens) to Target, 8055 W. Bell Road.
