An entry monument near Olive Avenue just east of the 115th Avenue alignment is planned for the city of Peoria.
However, that spot is located in unincorporated Maricopa County which maintains the streets.
So the city recently approved an intergovernmental agreement with Maricopa County to construct and maintain a city of Peoria monument entry sign within Maricopa County right-of-way along Olive Avenue just east of the 115th Avenue alignment.
The monument sign is to be located along the south side of Olive Avenue within county right-of-way, adjacent to the Barclays Suncliff residential subdivision to the east.
The purpose of the IGA is to identify and define the responsibilities of the parties, including cost sharing, design, permitting, environmental clearance, right-of-way acquisitions, utility relocation, construction, and construction management maintenance. Upon project completion, the city will maintain the new monument entry sign and landscaping.
