Peoria City Council voted Jan. 14 to appoint Councilmember Jennifer Crawford to serve as vice mayor and Councilmember Michael Finn to serve as mayor pro tem for one-year terms, beginning immediately.
The appointment of both positions is pursuant to the Peoria City Charter, which states council shall designate one of its members as vice mayor and a separate member as mayor pro tem. Both positions serve in such capacity at the pleasure of the council and for one-year terms.
The vice mayor performs the duties of the mayor during their absence. The mayor pro tem performs the duties of the mayor during the absence of both the mayor and the vice mayor.
Crawford was sworn into her first term on Jan. 3, 2023, and served as mayor pro tem in 2024. She has more than 30 years of business and marketing experience. She has operated small businesses, a nonprofit and is a self-employed consultant.
Finn served as the chief financial officer for the Peoria Unified School District before joining the council in 2015. He was reelected in 2018 and 2022. He also has more than 20 years of leadership experience with United Parcel Service and US Airways.
