Peoria child found safe, non-custodial parents face abduction charges

Zachary Kaman-Moose has been found safe in Tucson, Peoria police said Wednesday.

The 18-month-old, who had been missing since Nov. 18, was found about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, along with Brittany Roberts, 30, and Stephen Moose, police said.

Roberts and Moose were taken into custody without incident, and the child is with the Arizona Office of Child Welfare Investigations.

Police reported earlier that Roberts was with her son for a supervised visitation on Nov. 18 when she took him away in a truck, police said, adding she has no parental rights as the child is a ward of the state.

Authorities said Wednesday that the two adults were to be taken the Peoria Police Department where they will be interviewed, processed and moved to a Maricopa County facility where they will be booked for one count each of abduction of a child from a state agency.

Charges may be added or amended as the investigation continues, police said.
