Peoria Center for Performing Arts to get new roof
To be paid for from savings of another roofing project

INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
Peoria Center for the Performing Arts is set to get a new roof to be paid for with savings from another project.
City Council approved $141,000 to replace the deteriorated single ply flat roof portion of the building.
As part of the 2020 Capital Improvement Program, a project was funded for $350,000 to replace the roof of the Information and Technology building, and the city was able to reuse about 70% of the existing IT roofing material, and repurpose roofing tile from a Main Library roof project two years ago. The savings generated from the library and the IT roof replacement projects in fiscal year 2020 totaled about $225,000.
The Peoria Center for the Performing Arts building was built in 2006. The flat roof portion of the facility is approaching its maximum life expectancy of 15 years and over the last several years, leaks have been identified and repaired on a consistent basis after each rainfall. As a result, it is in need of replacement.
Officials said that due to the significant savings and the immediate need to replace the roof of the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts, it is practical to complete the work now as part of the roof replacement project budgeted in the capital improvement program.
