Peoria-based foundation presents Visionary award

Peoria-based Arizona Motorcycle Safety & Awareness Foundation presented the 2020 Visionary Award to Alberto Gutier, director of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

The award was presented to Mr. Gutier at the organization’s Share the Road/Riding for the Long Haul event this month.

AMSAF’s mission is to promote safety and awareness and reduce crashes and fatalities on Arizona’s roadways.

Mick Degn, executive director for AMSAF, said the Visionary award is given based on the following criteria:
•leadership in the Arizona community;
• positive influence in the Arizona motorcycle community;
•individual, business or organization that has had an overall impact on the Arizona community;
•individual, business or organization that has worked positively to influence and promote safety and awareness and to help reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities in Arizona.

Mr. Gutier and GOHS have supported AMSAF through multiple grants for motorcycle training and helmet assistance to help promote safety and awareness, according to a news release.

He has also has been instrumental in helping to reduce crashes and fatalities in Arizona and took the lead in helping to reduce or eliminate distracted driving, the release stated.

Other visionary awards were presented to:
•2021: Law Tigers founder and CEO Warren Levenbaum and Ari Levenbaum, chief marketing and operations officer. Twenty years ago, Warren Levenbaum started the company and created AMSAF. The Levenbaums always have committed to assisting riders whether someone is injured and needs legal assistance or is looking for local community support. Law Tigers have given back to the community through charitable contributions, insurance education and safety and awareness initiatives. Ari Levenbaum serves as the current president of AMSAF.

•2021: Dignity Health (Chandler Regional Medical Center) and Wendy Otten, director of trauma services and emergency preparedness. Dignity Health is one of the nation’s largest healthcare systems and operates more than 400 care centers, including hospitals, urgent and occupational care, imaging and surgery centers and home health and primary care clinics through a network of more than 10,000 physicians and 60,000 employees. Ms. Otten and her organization have worked closely with AMSAF and the distracted driving effort for several years due to the healthcare outcomes they see on a daily basis.

•2021: Breyer Law, The Husband and Wife Law Team, and owners Mark and Alexis Breyer. The pair, who founded their business 25 years ago, saw the sufferings of their clients and wanted to do more than just achieve great legal outcomes; they wanted to find ways to help people avoid ever getting hurt and to recognize those who are not fully appreciated. Breyer Law has committed many years to AMSAF, with Mr. Breyer having served as chairman and on the AMSAF executive board for nine years.

•2021: Rosenbluth Family Charitable Foundation and Michelle Arndt/Arizona Community Foundation. Jerry Rosenbluth established the Rosenbluth Family Charitable Foundation, a supporting organization of Arizona Community Foundation, as a vehicle to support his philanthropic endeavors and investing in the community. Rosenbuth dedicated the last 40 years of his life to improving the safety of motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, automobiles and the lives of the operators and those that share the road with them.

•2021: RideNow Powersports and Mike Pfab, metric marketing director. RideNow Powersports is the largest and most professionally operated powersports dealer group in the US and prides itself on bringing quality vehicles, service and experience to the communities it serves. RideNow has played a pivotal role with AMSAF in advancing the use of high quality, helmets for a discount, statewide.

•2019: Jerry Weiers, Mayor of Glendale. A founding member of AMSAF, Mr. Weiers was involved with safety bills aimed to reduce motorcycle crashes and fatalities. As mayor, he continues to promote motorcycle safety and awareness.

•2018: Ray Croghan assisted AMSAF with its scholarship program by helping more people get into motorcycle training. He has been involved with various charities in lending a hand to the homeless, veterans, motorcycle groups and others in the community.
