New president, clerk elected to Peoria Unified governing board
Posted
The Peoria Unified School Board voted for a new president and clerk from among their ranks at a public meeting, Jan. 9.
The board unanimously voted for David Sandoval to be the president and Cory Underhill to be the clerk.
At the first organizational meeting of the year, the board elects a president and clerk to serve for the calendar year, according to state law.
The two board members took over their new positions at the meeting.
“I’ve always said it is an honor to sit on this board and it would be an absolute honor to sit in the seat of the president for this upcoming year, without question,” he said.
Ms. Underhill thanked former President Monica Ceja Martinez for her leadership.
“I have personally seen her grow as a leader over the last couple years and lead by example and I really appreciate that,” she said. “I know that she will continue to be a fabulous board member and continue to support PUSD in the future.”
