An online theater class for kids, “Introduction to Improv,” takes place this month through TheaterWorks, 10580 N. 83rd Drive, Peoria.

“We have an idea of how our day will plan out when we wake up. However, we do not know exactly what we will say when we start interacting with people we know,” a theater news release states. “This course will teach students how to focus and hone those improvisation skills to be able to think quickly on their feet. Improvisation not only helps teach students how to keep the show going in the theatrical sense, but it enhances their skills in real-world experiences that require quick adaptability to various events.”

Each session is limited to 10 students.

A youth session for kids ages 8-12 goes 10-11:30 a.m. July 27-30. A teen session, for ages 13-18, runs 1-2:30 p.m., also July 27-30.

West Valley theater veteran Tim McCandless will teach both sessions.

Classes will take place via Zoom. Information and a link will be emailed within 24 hours prior to the class start time.
