Thinking outside the gym: Iron Girlz fitness offers electronic training programs

Posted

Tracey Rodriguez, owner of Iron Girlz fitness gym in Peoria, knows her customers are the lifeblood of her business.

But a business can’s stay fit and trim without customers.

Such was the situation for Ms. Rodruiguez and other business owners when Gov. Doug Ducey implemented an executive order requiring the closure of all gyms in any counties with confirmed cases of coronavirus.

So she’s taking a different approach.

Ms. Rodriguez is offering a 6-week online training program that members and new members can do at home with nutrition plans and daily accountability text messages.

This is for members and new members to keep seeing results during this difficult time, and to keep people from losing their minds to isolation and uncertainty, Ms Rodriguez said.

“In times of crisis and uncertainty, knowing that we are part of a community is truly what keeps us sane,” she said. “So although our workouts might not be in the gym like we are used too, the online program with live workouts with our amazing team are serving our members better than ever before because our need for them is exponentially more intense. We will get through this even stronger than when we started.”

Online training programs are offered seven days a week with guided videos. They include live training with the Iron Girlz team three times a day, Monday through Friday, a mindset call every Monday, and a nutrition call every Sunday with a nutritionist.

The program also includes a weekly group hike, if allowed by city.

“As a small business in the area, it is more important than ever to serve and do whatever we can to stay alive, be creative and save our business,” Ms. Rodriguez said.
